What a Chaotic Week Reminded Me About Why I Built My Business
When Life Throws You a Curveball
Last week was not on my bingo card.
We got about 2 feet of snow (much like most of the rest of the Northeast), and my son got sick, which rapidly escalated into croup and a middle-of-the-night ER visit.
They took great care of him, and he was feeling better sooner than any of us expected. But we still had the lingering week where kids couldn't go to school, and we woke up every day wondering if one of us was going to get sick.
Thankfully we didn't — and we were all feeling well enough to celebrate him turning THREE on Monday.
Working Through the Chaos
As tough as it was working with my kids and my husband at home (also trying to work), switching off who had eyes on the kids, working in funky blocks of time, and having to cancel meetings… I also felt really grateful.
Grateful that my life is set up in a way that this is possible.
Grateful that I didn't have to take PTO.
Grateful that I have systems set up in my business that mean I can take a slower week when I need to.
It's Easy to Forget What It's All About
Sometimes I get so caught up in building what's next for myself and my business that I forget why I started in the first place.
I started this business for freedom and flexibility. The ability to be a present mom and wife AND still make an impact and an income for our family.
A week like last week is proof that it's working.
A Reminder for the Slower Seasons
It's not a sexy, exciting realization. But it fills me with a lot of joy — and gives me some pep to keep going on those hard days when it feels like I'm not moving the needle at all.
So if you're in a season that feels nothing like the crazy rapid-fire growth you see on Instagram, I see you.
Sometimes growth is slower, more personal, and simpler than you could imagine. But it holds so much more impact.
What About You?
What's one thing that's actually going really well in your business that you haven't been giving yourself credit for? I'd love to hear about it.
